The Delois F. Swan Learning Center serves both youth and adults in the Greater Springfield area. Through classes, tutorial sessions and labs, we change lives- one person at a time. The Center is a safe place for after-school homework activities, learning and enhancement of computer skills. It is also be a place where underprivileged youth come in for homework help or just to surf the internet. We are excited at the potential of enhancing their lives as a result of having a safe place to go to after school. At COGIC Family Services, we truly believe that every child can succeed. Our program is designed to develop character building: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship Program Description The Center is intended primarily for youth ages 8 to 18 and is set up as a drop-in format, so youth can come and go as necessary. For many, this provides the opportunity to engage in fun supervised activities with their peers; while acting as a good alternative to going home to an empty house, and idle activities after school. In order to participate in the program youth must fill out contact information, and sign our rules. Parent/ legal guardian must sign contact information to verify its accuracy and to acknowledge that they’re aware of their child’s participation. The Center offers activities such as recreation, arts and crafts, board games, , and a computer lab, as well as other organized activities. Drop-in program hours will run 2:30-6:00pm Monday – Friday.
